Headstone Memorials

Headstones have been known by many names over the years, grave stones, tombstones, grave markers, monuments and more recently, headstones and memorials. Dunedin Monumental Masons have extensive expertise in the design, creation and restoration of these memorials.

Almost all memorials we have available are made of granite, which is used over other rock types because it has been proven to be the most weather resistant material and best able to accept a clear inscription. Many modern cemeteries specify only granite headstones and markers. Granite in an extensive colour range is sourced in South Africa, North and South America, Sweden, Finland,Norway and India. Almost all granites used in New Zealand memorials are imported.
